As a Network Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in managing, optimizing, and securing networks for Department of Defense (DoD) systems.

Work You’ll Do

As a Network Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing and sustaining switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, and network management tools in a datacenter environment supporting two DoD networks.
  • Conducting network management, analysis, troubleshooting, and monitoring to ensure optimal operations.
  • Developing and maintaining local operating procedures, policies, and network automation scripts.
  • Training junior team members on best practices and network management.
  • Implementing and maintaining security management strategies (DISA STIGs experience preferred).
  • Creating project documentation such as standard operating procedures, project plans, and network diagrams.

We specialize in automation, operational excellence, and modernization of key systems such as transportation networks and emerging platforms like 5G. Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering.
  • Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Must reside locally in Radford, VA, or be willing to relocate (onsite role requiring access to SIPR).

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs and other DoD security management protocols.
  • Hands-on experience in Data Center Management and network troubleshooting tools.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to document and maintain comprehensive project records, including diagrams and plans.
