Position Overview

SAIC is seeking a Network Technician to support our Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) and Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG) team in Lakehurst, NJ. This hybrid-remote role requires a minimum of two days onsite per week. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and capable of obtaining an Interim Secret clearance prior to the start date.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and configure network equipment racks, including firewalls, routers, and switches.
  • Configure and maintain servers and workstations.
  • Troubleshoot electronic equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and resolve issues for client, server, storage, and network devices.
  • Analyze user interfaces, hardware, and software performance, ensuring optimal tuning.
  • Evaluate workloads, computer usage, and proposed system modifications or upgrades.
  • Maintain and manage interfaces with external systems while analyzing and resolving downtime issues.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • At least five years of experience performing system administration and network engineering tasks.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Strong knowledge of system administration functions and network engineering practices.
  • Experience with configuring and troubleshooting network devices and equipment.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

Clearance

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Able to obtain an Interim Secret clearance prior to the start date.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Ethernet 10/100baseT and/or 100base FX.
  • Familiarity with best practices for lab environments.
