Job Overview

SAIC is seeking a Telecommunications Technician to support the U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) at Scott Air Force Base (AFB), Illinois, as part of the USTC Managed Information Technology Services (MITS) contract. This contract provides technical, strategic, and program management support to modernize USTRANSCOM’s infrastructure, systems, and applications. The Telecommunications Technician will be responsible for the administration and support of voice and mobility services, including device configuration, user/group administration, security permissions, and system integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Voice and Mobility Administration:
    • Maintain records for thousands of user circuits, telephones, cellular devices, and personal electronic devices (PEDs).
    • Activate, suspend, and change services, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless integration of voice and mobility systems.
    • Provide support for the USTRANSCOM PED program for unclassified devices.
  • Network Infrastructure Installation & Support:
    • Install, modify, and remove network infrastructure, including fiber and copper cabling and termination points.
    • Support telecommunications systems by installing, maintaining, and administering voice communications technologies, including VoIP and satellite systems.
    • Troubleshoot and optimize voice network performance, manage security, and ensure system integration.
  • System Upgrades & Troubleshooting:
    • Perform telecommunications system upgrades, preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot system malfunctions.
    • Diagnose and resolve issues with voice communication hardware and software.
    • Coordinate and execute activities related to system moves, changes, additions, and disconnections.
  • Reporting & Support:
    • Monitor service orders and maintain records of all changes.
    • Provide technical support and system maintenance, ensuring all systems meet manufacturer specifications.
    • May be required to provide after-hours and weekend support during planned or emergency events.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • One of the following IAT Level II certifications:
    • Security+, CECCNA-Security, CySA+**, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP
  • A Computing Environment (CE) certification or certificate for network support/defense (e.g., Cisco, McAfee, Splunk) OR systems (e.g., Microsoft, Linux, Solaris).
  • DoD Secret clearance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Availability for on-call work on a recurring basis.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with experience in end-to-end problem management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • ITIL Foundations V4 certification.

Compensation

The target salary range for this position is $40,001 - $80,000, based on experience and other factors.
