Primary Purpose:
This role involves serving as the ART Sortie Generation Flight (SGF) Chief, overseeing technical and administrative responsibilities related to ground handling, servicing, inspection, evaluation, testing, and repair of both assigned and transient aircraft. You will manage and supervise subordinate employees and ensure that reservists are properly trained in their assigned duties and responsibilities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Work Planning & Administrative Responsibilities: Direct and manage daily operations, ensuring efficient and effective workflows.

  4. Reserve Training Administration: Oversee the reserve training programs for Sortie Generation Flight, ensuring all personnel (reservists and ARTs) adhere to consistent training standards.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Selective Service: Males must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Security Clearance: May be required.
  • Relocation: PCS may be authorized according to JTR and AF regulations.

  • Certifications: Must maintain relevant certifications.
  • Membership: Must be a current member of the Air Force Reserve or qualified to join.

Qualifications:

Applicants will be assessed based on their skills, knowledge, and ability to perform job duties, not solely on the length of their experience. The key qualifications include:

  1. Technical Knowledge: Broad understanding of trade principles, processes, and techniques, along with personnel management and EEO practices.
  2. Safety Knowledge: In-depth understanding of safety regulations and practices.
  3. Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with hand and power tools, measuring, and testing equipment.
  4. Blueprint Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as blueprints and specifications.
  5. Work Planning & Organization: Skill in planning and organizing tasks, including determining resources required.
  6. Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Physical Effort: Includes heavy lifting (45-79 lbs.), moderate carrying (15-44 lbs.), and use of arms and legs for climbing, kneeling, and crawling.
  • Environmental Conditions: The work is performed both indoors and outdoors, often in noisy, dusty, and sometimes hazardous conditions. You will also work with moving machinery and vehicles, requiring caution and adherence to safety procedures.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to operate various vehicles and machinery may be required.
  • The position requires regular participation in unit training assemblies (UTA) aligned with Air Force Reserve requirements.
  • Incumbents may also be asked to perform non-ART duties, not exceeding 30% of total responsibilities.
