Thermal System Architect

Our Thermal Engineering team delivers innovative and compliant thermal design solutions, as well as cross-functional interfaces for desktop, portable and mobile computer systems and peripherals. Our team conducts the feasibility studies and testing of commercial PC thermal products, instruments, subassemblies and performance optimization for new and existing products - and then oversees the introduction of design changes to the manufacturing organizations.

What you'll achieve

As a Thermal System Architect, you will be responsible for defining the product's thermal requirements, engineering the product to meet those standards, and validating that the product complies with them. This involves working with internal development teams, external suppliers and development partners to develop innovative solutions for PCs using leading-edge engineering software, tools and processes.

And you'll be responsible for leading and defining the product designs across a large breath of skillsets, including structural, thermal, manufacturing, serviceability and reliability. And you'll have the opportunity to use your multi-discipline strengths within mechanical engineering to direct designs, drive system level conclusions and represent the team at the cross-functional reviews.

You will:
  • Possess the acumen to handle both complex and ambiguous situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously - mixing long term projects with the urgency of immediate demands
  • Have a high level of creativity, drive, leadership and design skills as you'll create exciting designs, share knowledge across the technology community and be proud of your industry leading products

Essential Requirements:
  • Typically requires 12+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor's degree; or 8+ years with a Master's degree; or 5+ years with a PhD; or equivalent experience
  • Be self-motivated to solve complex problems
  • Must possess strong communication skills with a high degree of efficacy to navigate and relate to multiple audience levels
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a diverse, multi-function team environment
  • Aptitude to assess and optimize program tradeoffs such as cost, performance, quality and schedule
Desirable Requirements:
  • Experience with both Passive and Advanced Cooling (Liquid or Alternate) designs and prior computer architecture experience
  • Technical experience in Thermal Systems Control and prior experience managing and working with a global engineering team
Compensation

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $187,000 - $242,000.
