Principal Solutions Architect

Job Overview

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an experienced Solutions Architect to support our U.S. Government customers, specifically within the Intelligence Community. In this role, you will leverage AWS technologies to craft scalable, flexible, and secure cloud architectures, helping government organizations migrate and optimize their infrastructure. This is a critical role where you will work closely with AWS sales teams, customers, and other AWS teams to drive the adoption of AWS services and shape the future of cloud computing for Intelligence Community agencies.

The ideal candidate will be an expert in cloud technologies and will possess a unique balance of deep technical knowledge and excellent interpersonal skills. You will be instrumental in educating customers on cloud best practices, helping them achieve successful cloud migrations, and ensuring AWS services meet their complex business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Sales Strategy & Execution: Partner with the sales team to create and execute a strategy that exceeds revenue objectives by promoting AWS adoption across the Intelligence Community.
• Cloud Solution Architecture: Work directly with customers to design cloud solutions, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and optimized for the cloud.
• Customer Education & Training: Lead one-to-few and one-to-many customer training sessions, transferring knowledge of AWS technologies and best practices.
• Deep Architectural Discussions: Participate in architectural discussions to ensure that customer solutions are cloud-ready and meet the technical requirements for deployment on AWS.
• Customer Advocacy: Build deep relationships with senior technical individuals, acting as a trusted advisor, and enabling them to advocate for AWS solutions within their organizations.
• Thought Leadership: Contribute to AWS publications, including whitepapers, blogs, and reusable content. Share knowledge and best practices within the AWS Solutions Architect community.
• Liaison with Engineering & Support: Act as a technical liaison between customers and AWS engineering teams to ensure successful solution delivery and ongoing support.

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience: 12+ years in technology domains such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, security, and networking.
• Technical Communication: Proven ability to communicate complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences, including C-level executives.
• Technology Solution Development: Experience in developing end-to-end technology roadmaps and evangelizing cloud computing transformations.
• Security Clearance: Current TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree, or certifications such as CISSP-ISSAP or CISSP-ISSEP.
• Leadership Experience: 5+ years in a technical leadership role such as CTO, Head of Technology, or Principal Solutions Architect.
• Cloud Experience: Experience in architecting and migrating customer solutions to the cloud, including designing infrastructure solutions using both Linux/Unix and Windows.
• Security Knowledge: Understanding of ICD 503, FISMA, FedRAMP, and other federal government security requirements.
• Software Development Knowledge: Familiarity with software development tools, methodologies, and best practices.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Base Pay: Ranges from $164,500/year in lower geographic markets to $284,300/year in higher geographic markets.
• Total Compensation: Includes equity, sign-on payments, and additional benefits as part of a comprehensive package.
