SAIC is seeking a System Administrator to support the Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) and Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG) team located in Lakehurst, NJ. This is a hybrid-remote role requiring at least two days onsite each week. The candidate must be a U.S. citizen and be able to obtain an Interim Secret clearance prior to the start date.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support for day-to-day operations, including monitoring and resolving issues for all client, server, storage, and network devices.
  • Install, configure, and manage Linux and Windows operating system clients and servers, diagnosing and troubleshooting system issues.
  • Perform database administrative tasks, including basic scripting and maintenance.
  • Harden server installations, apply Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) patches, and ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards.
  • Analyze and optimize system performance, workload, and hardware/software usage.
  • Maintain hardware/software performance tuning, monitor downtime, and assess system modifications, upgrades, and new Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) solutions.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience performing system administration tasks, including those listed above.
  • Hands-on experience with the Atlassian suite of collaboration tools, such as Jira, Confluence, and Compass.
  • Familiarity with software development processes.
  • Proficient in system administration for Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience managing relational database management systems (e.g., MySQL, SQLite, PostgreSQL).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain an Interim Secret clearance before the start date.

Preferred Experience

  • Understanding of Ethernet (10/100baseT and 100baseFX) networks.
  • Familiarity with protocols such as User Datagram Protocol (UDP), Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), and IP Multicast Routing.
