Overview:

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking highly motivated engineers to join the Mercury ADC Operations team. This team focuses on enabling U.S. Government agencies to implement innovative cloud computing solutions, solving complex technical problems. As an AWS Mercury ADC Operations Engineer, you'll work with cutting-edge cloud computing technologies and complex distributed systems. You'll play a key role in troubleshooting and optimizing AWS’s infrastructure, ensuring operational excellence while helping to create scalable and secure solutions for customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Excellence: Focus on troubleshooting complex system operations, identifying defects and ensuring high availability, performance, security, stability, and maintainability.
  • Automation and Efficiency: Drive operational automation and pursue continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Customer Support: Investigate and resolve customer issues, working closely with development teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Incident Management: Respond to operational tickets, ensuring that any escalations or systemic risks are managed and mitigated in a timely manner.
  • Collaboration: Work with developers to build and support the Commerce Platform services in the ADC regions and contribute to system design improvements.
  • On-Call Support: Participate in on-call rotations to support operational issues as they arise.
  • Monitoring and Analysis: Investigate operational metrics and system variances, taking proactive measures to prevent issues before they arise.

About the Team:

The Mercury ADC Operations team supports AWS's Commerce Platform, which handles tasks like customer sign-up, bill computation, security, fraud prevention, and metering services for AWS customers. This platform processes trillions of events daily and includes low-latency, real-time analysis, which is critical for security and fraud detection.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Associate’s degree or industry certifications like Cloud+, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP.
    • 5+ years of experience in systems administration (Linux/Windows).
    • 5+ years of experience working with scripting languages.
  • Security Clearance: Active US Government Security Clearance (TS or higher).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with cloud computing technologies.
  • 5+ years of experience working in production computing environments, with a focus on support procedures and methodologies.
  • Experience automating tasks and improving operational efficiency.
  • Experience with performance and log analysis.
  • Deep understanding of scalability, performance, and reliability design.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex, undefined technical issues.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base Pay: Ranges from $139,500/year in the lowest geographic market up to $210,000/year in the highest geographic market.
  • Total Compensation: AWS offers a comprehensive compensation package, including equity, sign-on bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
