Job Summary:

Join Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT), serving as a front-line responder for hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting at AWS data centers. This includes maintaining and operating critical systems like diesel generators, UPSs, switchboards, PDUs, AHUs, and more. You will be an essential part of a 24/7 operations team, working in shifts to ensure uninterrupted service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and fire/life safety systems, including generators, switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, and HVAC systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as filter changes, HVAC PMs, and power installs.
  • Respond to and troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLA timeframes.
  • Collaborate with Data Center Operations technicians and supervise contractors conducting maintenance.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and propose solutions.
  • Monitor systems via routine rounds, logging operational readings such as temperatures, voltages, and currents.
  • Manage workflows and spare part inventories using AWS's internal CMMS system.
  • Innovate and implement cost-effective solutions to improve operational efficiency.
  • Fully adhere to physical security procedures and policies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of maintenance experience with mechanical or electrical systems.
  • U.S. Citizenship with an active Top Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work at heights, and navigate challenging environments (e.g., extreme climates, noisy areas).
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including nights and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in data center operations or mission-critical environments such as military or telecom.
  • Knowledge of network design, low-voltage cabling, and related infrastructure.
  • Experience using building management systems (BMS/EPMS) and interpreting data trends.
  • Relevant licenses, including DC II, DC III, Journeyman Electrical/Mechanical License, CFC (Universal or Type II), or NFPA 70E certification.

Work Environment:

  • Walk job sites with uneven terrain.
  • Work in confined spaces, elevated locations, and extreme climate conditions.
  • Participate in group lifts exceeding 50 pounds as needed.
  • Flexibility to perform rotating 12-hour shifts, covering both day and night schedules.
