Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise groups of workers through one or more levels of subordinate supervisors.
  • Assign work based on organizational objectives, set priorities, and establish deadlines.
  • Ensure staff selection, utilization, and development align with organizational standards.
  • Plan and coordinate the activities of three shifts of security guards.
  • Perform managerial and administrative duties related to the security guard force.

Requirements and Conditions of Employment:

  • Background Investigation: Appointment requires a suitability or fitness determination and completion of a Tier 3 background investigation for Secret-level eligibility.
  • Certifications: Must obtain and sustain state certification for operating National Crime Information Center terminals.
  • Individual Reliability Program (IRP): High standards of conduct, emotional stability, and effective work under pressure are mandatory.
  • Drug Testing: Pre-employment and random drug testing required.
  • Shift Work: Must accommodate fluctuating schedules, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Firearm Proficiency: Must pass an initial qualification and semi-annual requalifications for assigned firearms.
  • Physical and Medical Standards: Must pass annual medical exams and a physical agility test (PAT) within 30 days of appointment. Ongoing physical fitness and annual PAT are required.
