Transportation Assistant

Role Overview:

As a Transportation Assistant, you will manage and oversee shipment solutions, provide technical shipping advice, and ensure the smooth transportation of various materials, including general freight, hazardous materials, and high-value or sensitive items. You will serve as a technical advisor, liaising between customers, carriers, and transportation offices, making cost-effective and informed decisions based on shipping needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and coordinate shipments of general and specialized materials using various transportation modes.
• Ensure accuracy in shipping requests and communicate with customers for any corrections.
• Conduct market research for supply purchases and shipping materials.
• Provide technical consultation on transportation policies and practices.
• Serve as a liaison between military transportation offices, carriers, and customers.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Specialized experience in freight transportation, analyzing material handling needs, applying regulations, and customer communication.
• Education: One year of graduate-level education in a directly related field may substitute for experience.
• Skills: Proficiency in freight shipment logistics, customer service, computer literacy, and problem-solving.

Conditions of Employment:
