The Opportunity:

CACI needs a hard-charging and creative electrical engineer or control systems engineer to be a subject matter expert for critical infrastructure and Industrial Control System (ICS) projects.

Primary responsibility will be to architect Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and Emulation environments that will include hardware-in-the-loop such as SCADA systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and other control systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the fundamentals of Operational Technology and Industrial Control Systems (OT/ICS). Firm understanding of communications protocols and OT/ICS network architecture.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of communications concepts, principles, and practices to accomplish work processes using telecommunications devices, methods, services, and facilities. Work encompasses complex and uncommon interfaces and policies and practices; sources of technical data to evaluate new devices, proposals, and approaches.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relationships.
  • Researches problems discovered by quality assurance or product support and develops solutions to the problems.
  • Documents engineering work as input for company collateral and patent requirements.
  • Collaborates with technical writers to create customer-relevant documentation.
  • Coordinates with project work teams to ensure adherence to policies, achievement of quality targets and delivery on schedule milestones and works with engineering and management team to collectively meet market requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Required:
    • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent, and three to five years of related work experience.
    • Experience as a Program or Project manager on a small effort requiring independent dependent decision-making in the context of process adherence and rigor
    • Experience working with ICS/OT systems.
    • Cybersecurity experience.
    • BASIC understanding of wired and wireless communications: IoT/IIoT, ICS/SCADA, Cellular (GSM, CDMA, UMTS, LTE), PSTN, 802.1X protocols, satellite, Digital Mobile Radio networks, LAN/WLAN, Core Routers, Layer 2 Switches, IP & MAC addresses, OSI Layers.
    • Proficiency with the MATLAB/Simulink family of products. Familiarity with Real-Time Simulators.
  • Desired:
    • Security+, Linux+, Network+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) are desirable.
    • An understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is a plus.
    • Familiarity with control and communications systems utilized in freight rail systems.
