Position Summary:

This position involves performing lead security guard duties under the authority of the Senior Commander at IMCOM-supported installations. As a Lead Security Guard, the incumbent will be responsible for enforcing security regulations, controlling access to the installation, conducting vehicle and foot patrols, and ensuring the protection of personnel, property, and sensitive technologies.

Key Duties:

  • Security Operations:
    • Perform security guard duties to detect and prevent theft, damage, trespassing, accidents, sabotage, and espionage.
    • Enforce security regulations to protect personnel, property, and government technologies from unlawful entry and destruction.
  • Access Control:
    • Control access to the installation by verifying the identification of personnel and vehicles using ID cards, biometrics, and other methods.
    • Admit or deny entry and arrange for escorts when necessary.
  • Vehicle and Pedestrian Inspection:
    • Conduct searches and inspections of vehicles entering the installation.
  • Patrol:
    • Conduct foot or vehicle patrols around the perimeter, roadways, parking lots, and other high-traffic areas.
  • Leadership Responsibilities:
    • Serve as a lead security guard, providing guidance and direction to subordinate security personnel.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Suitability/Fitness Determination: Appointment may require a background investigation for suitability determination.
  • Key Position: This position is designated as "Key" and cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization.
  • Lautenberg Amendment: The position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban (Lautenberg Amendment), disqualifying individuals with a history of domestic violence offenses from carrying firearms.
  • Firearm Proficiency: Must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms, pass an initial qualification, and qualify semi-annually thereafter as per AR 190-56.

  • One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-06 grade level, which includes:
    • Detecting and preventing theft, damage, and/or trespassing.
    • Performing vehicle searches, confiscating unauthorized items, and directing traffic flow.
    • Verifying identification and controlling access to premises.
    • Ensuring the safety and security of personnel and government property from threats like unlawful entry, sabotage, espionage, and theft.

Additional Information:

  • Selective Service: Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.

  • Restrictions: The position may be subject to the Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.

  • Permanent Change of Station (PCS): PCS costs are not authorized for this position.
  • Salary: The salary includes locality pay or Local Market Supplement based on your location.
