Job Description:

Join AWS Infrastructure Services as a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT), the critical first line of defense in ensuring the operational excellence of AWS data centers. EOTs are hands-on experts, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical equipment to keep the cloud running for millions of customers globally. This equipment includes diesel generators, switchboards, UPSs, PDUs, HVAC systems, and more.

This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate in a 24/7 rotating shift environment, ensuring that AWS infrastructure meets the highest standards of reliability and efficiency.

Note: Candidates must be U.S. citizens with an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain data center electrical and mechanical systems, including emergency power and fire/life safety equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve facility-level and rack-level events within internal SLAs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks, such as filter changes, HVAC servicing, and rack equipment replacements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement solutions.
  • Supervise contractors performing maintenance or servicing tasks.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols while working on-site.
  • Manage daily operational readings and log mechanical and electrical equipment performance metrics.
  • Respond to off-hour emergencies as part of the on-call rotation for regional data centers.
  • Utilize internal CMMS systems to track workflows and inventory.
  • Drive cost-effective innovation in operational processes.

Physical Demands:

  • Work in extreme climates, noisy environments, and at heights.
  • Manipulate small wires and objects.
  • Regularly lift/move up to 39 pounds; participate in group lifts for heavier items.
  • Bend, twist, push, or pull heavy objects into position.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of experience in:
    • Electrical or mechanical systems.
    • Data center or mission-critical facilities (e.g., hospitals, military installations).
    • Operating systems in mission-critical environments.
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS/EPMS).
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of engineering experience in data center environments.
  • Familiarity with cutting-edge data center technologies and operations.
