Position Overview:

This Air Reserve Technician (ART) position is primarily responsible for managing the training program within the unit maintenance organization. The role includes overseeing various training components such as On-the-Job Training (OJT), civilian training, re-training, formal schooling, Instructional Systems Development (ISD), professional military education, ancillary training, and unit training planning. The incumbent will also provide technical guidance and support to supervisors and managers on all aspects of the training programs, prepare status briefings, and conduct training for new personnel, maintenance staff, and reservists.

Key Duties:

  1. Manage, plan, and direct the unit’s maintenance training program.
  2. Oversee the On-the-Job Training program for all personnel, including ARTs, reservists, civilians, and managers.
  3. Supervise special certification and ancillary training programs.
  4. Conduct formal and informal staff visits to units, guiding the implementation of maintenance training programs.
  5. Maintain automated training references and develop training forecasts.
  6. Offer guidance and assistance to management in implementing and improving training initiatives.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be a current member of the AF Reserve or willing to join.

  • Position may involve shift work, emergency overtime, and travel (including temporary duty assignments).
  • Employee must maintain current certifications and may be subject to random drug testing.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.

Qualifications:

  • Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent. This includes knowledge of training methods, policies, and procedures specific to the maintenance unit.
  • Education: A Master's degree or 2 years of graduate education in a relevant field, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
    1. Familiarity with AFRC Reserve mission, policies, and training methods.
    2. Understanding of training goals, implementation, and instruction for maintenance units.
    3. Proficiency in analyzing unit training statistics.
    4. Skilled in using automated systems for reporting and data analysis.
    5. Knowledge of qualifications and proficiency training requirements for maintenance specialties.
    6. Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate with various levels of command.

Other Information:

  • This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) enlisted position, which requires meeting and maintaining Air Force Reserve standards.
  • The incumbent may be asked to fly for temporary duty assignments and must be able to obtain and retain a security clearance.
  • Military members on terminal leave are eligible to apply, provided they meet specific criteria.

Education Requirements: Applicants must submit transcripts if using education to qualify. Foreign education credentials must be verified to meet U.S. standards.
