Job Overview:

SAIC is seeking an experienced In-Plant Satellite Factory Integration & Test (I&T) Engineer to provide essential government customer oversight at a satellite contractor facility throughout the satellite's design, manufacturing, integration, test, and launch phases. This role involves working closely with contractor teams to ensure the satellite is delivered successfully and meets the required technical and programmatic objectives for on-orbit operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration and Communication: Work in an interactive environment with government customer leads, satellite subsystems developers, and other subject matter experts to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Status Reporting: Provide written daily and weekly status reports to the customer program office to communicate progress, issues, and solutions.
  • Issue Identification and Resolution: Identify, lead, and influence contractor efforts to address and resolve technical and programmatic issues during satellite integration and test phases.
  • Review and Evaluation: Review, assess, and evaluate contractor satellite assembly, integration, and test plans/procedures, ensuring alignment with project requirements and objectives.
  • Test Engineering Support: Conduct test engineering and requirements flow-down assessments, ensuring that satellite level test plans, procedures, and reports meet specified requirements.
  • Analysis of Test Results: Provide analysis support on satellite test results to verify that the satellite design satisfies system requirements and ensure requirements satisfaction analysis is completed.
  • Functional & Physical Configuration Audits: Conduct FCA/PCA to verify that the spacecraft configuration meets the necessary standards.
  • Failure Review and Anomaly Resolution: Participate in Failure Review Boards (FRBs) to investigate and resolve anomalies by conducting fact-finding, audits, and inquiries during processing, testing, or operational failures.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure compliance with interfaces and standards or determine if appropriate deviations/waivers are in place as required.
  • Shift Work: Be available for 24/7 shift work as needed to support satellite operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree with 14+ years of related experience; or
    • Master’s degree with 12+ years of experience; or
    • PhD with 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in Spacecraft systems engineering, specifically with integration and test activities.
    • Significant experience in satellite development, manufacturing, and I&T.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative communication approach.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively report technical status and lead cross-functional teams.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree:
    • MS in Electrical, Software, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience:
    • Experience with multiple satellite programs and System Engineering Integration and Test.
    • Knowledge of early satellite life-cycle engineering activities, including integration, test, and Launch and Initialization (L&I) phases.

Target Salary Range:

$160,001 - $200,000 (Based on experience and qualifications)
