Job Description:

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for highly motivated Data Center Technicians to join the expanding Infrastructure Operations team. As a Data Center Technician, you will play a critical role in the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of AWS’s global infrastructure. This includes working with servers, storage, networking hardware, and associated systems to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of AWS data centers. Your work will directly support AWS's mission to provide scalable, reliable, and cost-effective cloud services for customers across industries.

This role will require a combination of physical labor and technical troubleshooting, where you’ll apply your knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure to resolve problems and ensure minimal downtime. You’ll collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, security experts, and operations managers to help us maintain one of the largest information systems infrastructures in the world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Physical Data Center Tasks: Engage in a variety of tasks involving hardware and software troubleshooting, capacity planning, rack deployment, and decommissioning of racks.
  • Troubleshooting: Solve infrastructure issues related to servers, fiber, networking, and other hardware by applying troubleshooting skills, including OSI model principles.
  • Hardware Maintenance: Handle and manage server hardware and associated IT equipment, including lifting and moving materials up to 49 lbs, working in confined spaces, and ensuring systems are operational.
  • Service Level Agreements: Proactively detect, report, and resolve issues to maintain and meet service level agreements (SLAs) for customers.
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain safety protocols and comply with AWS’s standards for hardware installation, cable management, and work in high-noise environments.
  • 24/7 Operational Support: The position will require working shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support the continuous operations of AWS data centers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Current TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph (required).
  • Associate's degree in IT or equivalent professional or military experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with server hardware (installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance).
  • 1+ year of experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems.
  • Security+ certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of start.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field or equivalent professional or military experience.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware platforms such as Dell or HP.
  • Networking certifications such as CCNA or Network+ are a plus.
  • Previous experience working in a Data Center environment (rack deployment, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment).

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base Salary: $73,200/year (lowest geographic market) to $163,600/year (highest geographic market), based on experience and location.
  • Total Compensation: Includes equity, sign-on bonuses, and benefits, such as medical, financial, and retirement options.
