Duties:

  • Research & Design: Develop and design creative visual materials to support communication efforts, including printed publications, multimedia, video, photography, exhibits, logos, signs, and certificates.
  • Customer Coordination: Work closely with customers to develop concepts, layouts, and designs that align with their needs and objectives.
  • Production & Reproduction: Finalize designs and prepare them for printing or electronic reproduction.
  • Creative Development: Transform rough sketches and concepts into polished final designs for communication purposes.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Security Clearance: Applicants must obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Suitability Determination: Employment is contingent on passing a background investigation.
  • Other Requirements: This position is subject to a trial/probationary period, and direct deposit of pay is required.

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet specific experience or education requirements:

GS-07 (Entry-level):

  • Specialized Experience: At least one year of experience assembling visual information materials (e.g., video, multimedia, photography) for projects.
  • OR Education: One year of graduate-level education in fields like commercial art, photography, visual communication, etc.
  • OR Combination: A mix of education and experience.

GS-09 (Intermediate-level):

  • Specialized Experience: One year of experience reviewing media for quality, assembling visual information products (e.g., video, multimedia, photography) for senior review.
  • OR Education: A Master’s degree or 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education in a related field.
  • OR Combination: A mix of experience and education.

GS-11 (Advanced-level):

  • Specialized Experience: One year of experience designing visual materials, providing digital photography or videography support, and assembling visual information products for customer review.
  • OR Education: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education.
  • OR Combination: A mix of experience and education.

Evaluation Criteria:

Candidates will be evaluated based on their competence in the following areas:

  • Communications
  • Project Management
  • Telecommunications Planning, System Design, and Integration

Eligibility:

This position is open to individuals meeting various employment authority categories, including:

  • Current Department of Army and Department of Defense civilian employees
  • Military spouses under Executive Order 13473
  • Veterans and individuals eligible for Priority Placement Programs

Additional Information:

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.
  • The position may involve a one-year trial period.
  • The job is part of Career Program 34 (Visual Information Specialist).
