Job Summary:

The U.S. Department of Defense is seeking a skilled and motivated HR Specialist to serve as a key advisor in military personnel management for an Army Reserve Brigade or equivalent unit. This position requires an active U.S. Army Reserve membership and involves providing expert guidance, training, and oversight of military personnel programs, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Personnel Management:

    • Serve as a subject matter expert on military personnel management, providing guidance to subordinate units.
    • Oversee and coordinate the unit’s military personnel activities.
  • Training and Policy Implementation:

    • Conduct training and briefings on current and proposed personnel policies for headquarters staff and subordinate units.
    • Develop and implement innovative solutions to resolve complex personnel situations.
  • Program Evaluation:

    • Establish criteria to monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of personnel programs.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory guidance.
  • Communication and Collaboration:

    • Prepare reports and provide recommendations to higher command echelons.
    • Conduct staff assistance visits and inspections to subordinate units.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Specialized Experience (GS-11 Level):
    • One year of experience equivalent to GS-09 performing tasks such as:
      • Applying military personnel management principles and legal requirements.
      • Conducting staff assistance visits and ensuring compliance with regulations.
      • Providing advisory services to subordinate units.
      • Utilizing automated systems for military personnel programs.
      • Analyzing data to identify personnel issues.
    • OR: Ph.D. or three full years of progressively advanced graduate education in HR Management, Public Administration, or related fields.
    • OR: A combination of education and experience.
