Position Overview

This role involves assisting in fueling and defueling operations for tanker trucks, aircraft, and Navy combatant ships. It includes operating fuel systems and equipment, ensuring secure mechanical connections, and documenting fuel transfers while working in various conditions, including outdoors and at piers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fueling Operations: Assist with fueling and defueling tanker trucks, aircraft, and ships using secure mechanical connections to prevent spills and product loss.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate pumps and accessory equipment to load, unload, and transfer fuel via pipelines and hoses.
  • Documentation: Record fuel transfers, apply seals, gauge tanks, and maintain accurate records of volumes transferred.
  • Pier-side Duties: Docking assistance, line handling, and hose management during fueling and unloading operations of ships and tankers.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Conduct basic maintenance tasks as part of the quality assurance team.

Requirements

  • Eligibility: Must be a U.S. Citizen, participate in direct deposit, and meet Selective Service registration (if applicable).
  • Licensing: Must obtain and maintain a valid U.S. driver’s license, Forklift Operator License, and relevant HAZMAT certifications.
  • Physical & Safety Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in various weather conditions, and wear personal protective equipment.
  • Pre-employment Checks: Physical examination, drug testing, and a security clearance are mandatory.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to perform fuel distribution tasks under supervision and engage in a structured training program.
  • Knowledge and experience in handling fuel and ensuring safety during operations.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance practices and record-keeping for fuel operations.

  • Work Conditions: Includes exposure to adverse weather, physical exertion, and occupational hazards like fuel handling and transportation.
  • Training: Completion of Competency Based Certification (CBC) and HAZWOPER courses is required.
  • Schedule: May involve nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Mission Essential: Continuity of operations and mission-critical task completion are required.
