Job Overview

SAIC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) team in Lakehurst, NJ. The role involves creating and implementing solutions for integrating system-level components, addressing complex technical challenges, and facilitating the integration of legacy systems with modern technologies. An active Secret clearance is required. Relocation may be considered for exceptional candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and integrate technical efforts to ensure identified needs are translated into effective and lifecycle-optimized systems.
  • Ensure compatibility of all functional and physical interfaces (internal and external).
  • Validate system definitions and designs to meet requirements across all elements, including hardware, software, data, and facilities.
  • Ensure engineering activities comply with established Systems Engineering processes.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of stakeholders, including engineering, logistics, manufacturing, contractors, and program leadership, to address complex technical problems with competing objectives and constraints.
  • Develop and document technical solutions considering technical, cost, and schedule constraints.
  • Create and review technical documentation, such as change management documents, presentation materials, and white papers.
  • Support program execution activities, including risk management, configuration management, data management, trade-off analysis, technical reviews, and modeling and simulation.
  • Communicate effectively with program offices, fleet operators, and industry stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferred disciplines: Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Computer).
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering, specifically in requirements management and verification.
    • Familiarity with the Department of the Navy (DoN) Systems Engineering Process and Technical Review (SETR) policies and processes.
    • Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders of varying technical expertise.
  • Security Clearance:

    • Active Secret clearance is required.

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with tools like CORE or GENESYS.
  • Knowledge of operational environments and aviation operations aboard platforms such as CVN-class ships.
  • Experience in production engineering, including reviewing DoD acquisition documentation for major system production.
  • Hands-on experience with Systems Engineering processes, preferably NAVAIR SE processes.
  • Strong presentation skills, particularly in briefing technical issues to non-technical leadership.
  • Experience working in integrated programs involving diverse engineering and logistics disciplines.
  • Leadership experience in engineering teams for design, development, or manufacturing projects.
