About the Role

SAIC is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to support the U.S. Space Force (USSF) as part of the Kobayashi Maru program. This role involves designing and implementing IT systems that integrate diverse and complex components, ensuring they meet the mission-critical needs of the USSF Operational C2 Mission.

You will lead engineering teams responsible for deploying USSF Cloud Initiatives aimed at improving performance, reducing administrative overhead, and delivering seamless user experiences. The environment is a mix of global, interconnected, hybrid IT infrastructures hosting mission-critical systems and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Convert product requirements into integrated systems solutions while adhering to technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Conduct functional analysis, trade studies, and timeline analysis to translate customer needs into hardware/software specifications.
  • Develop system architecture and configuration, ensuring operational integration and scalability.
  • Lead engineering teams in designing, developing, and integrating complex systems for the USSF.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure solutions align with mission goals and requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to junior engineers and team members.
  • Manage risk, project schedules, and budgets, ensuring adherence to timelines and objectives.
  • Prepare and present technical documentation and reports to senior management and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 9+ years of related experience.
  • Active Secret to TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience with:
    • Developing/sustaining national security mission systems.
    • Leading Agile or DevSecOps teams/projects, including cost estimation, risk management, and performance monitoring.
    • Transitioning waterfall methodologies to Agile processes for delivering Minimum Viable Products (MVP).
    • Configuration and data management for classified systems.
    • Implementing distributed systems, virtual environments, and multi-cloud networking solutions.
  • Strong ability to translate operational requirements into technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in testing and evaluation of classified hardware/software systems.

Certifications:

  • INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or equivalent.

Desired:

  • Experience with space systems, satellite operations, or related technologies.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools.
  • Knowledge of regulatory/industry standards.
  • PMP Certification preferred.
