Position Overview:

As an Electronics Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, conducting, and analyzing technical investigations of complex electronic systems. Your primary duties will involve testing and analyzing various systems or components, as well as working collaboratively with other team members to resolve issues, assess data, and propose improvements.

Key Duties:

  1. Technical Investigation & Testing:

    • Plan, schedule, and conduct detailed investigations of phases or complete projects, which may include several complex features.
    • Conduct laboratory or field tests on electronic systems, monitoring and analyzing test data to identify issues and recommend changes.
  2. Data Analysis & Problem Solving:

    • Analyze complicated test data, drawing conclusions based on results and suggesting procedural changes to improve performance or compliance.
    • Predict and resolve the interactions and relationships between data and findings under various test conditions.
  3. Feasibility Studies & System Evaluation:

    • Assess the feasibility of new products, equipment, and methodologies, setting standards for new technology.
    • Evaluate and determine improvements to systems or processes, ensuring they meet desired outcomes.
  4. Collaboration & Coordination:

    • Work with cross-functional teams, coordinating with other engineers and technicians to complete tasks and resolve issues related to the test or design phases of complex systems.

Requirements:

  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizen.
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance.
  • Direct Deposit: Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Selective Service: Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Travel: Must be able to travel to CONUS (Continental U.S.) and OCONUS (Outside the Continental U.S.), including remote or isolated sites. Travel may involve extended periods and require use of military or commercial aircraft.
  • New Employees: Must pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Bargaining Unit: This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications:

For GS-09 (Electronics Engineer):

  • Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. This includes applying electronics engineering theories, principles, and concepts to design, test, or integrate components for warfare systems.

For GS-07:

  • Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, where you applied basic engineering concepts to assist in testing or designing electronic systems or equipment.

OR (Education may be substituted for experience):

  • GS-09: A master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education.
  • GS-07: One year of graduate-level education or a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to the one-year experience requirement.

Additional Information:

  • Veterans’ Preference: Veterans' preference does not apply when selecting individuals under this specific hiring authority. If claiming veteran's preference, supporting documentation will be required.
  • Relocation Incentives: A relocation incentive may be authorized for selectees to offset relocation costs.
  • Promotion: Promotion to the next grade level is not guaranteed but may occur noncompetitively upon meeting regulatory requirements and management approval.
