Duties:

  • Conduct complex chemical and physical analysis on a variety of materials.
  • Calibrate analytical instruments using approved procedures, ensuring traceability.
  • Develop and recommend new techniques for sample preparation and analysis.
  • Determine procedures for routine and non-routine samples.
  • Oversee method validation studies to evaluate the suitability of methods.
  • Prepare and revise procedures to accommodate specific types of equipment and test instrumentation.

Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship and suitability for federal employment.
  • Participation in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Security clearance is required.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory for all work shifts.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Must be able to work in hazardous environments (chemicals, radiation, etc.).
  • Rotating shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Exposure to high noise levels.

Qualifications:

  • Must have specialized experience in performing chemical and instrumental analysis at the GS-11 level or equivalent.
  • A degree in physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering with coursework in chemistry, physics, and calculus.
  • Experience should include conducting chemical analyses, ensuring compliance, and modifying methods to support customer needs.

  • This is a bargaining unit position, meaning it's part of a labor union.
