Job Summary

The U.S. Department of Defense seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Logistics Management Specialist to join our team. This critical role supports the Army Reserve by ensuring effective logistical operations, reviewing contracts, and implementing policies to resolve logistical challenges. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert guidance in supply and maintenance management to enhance operational readiness.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct staff visits to identify and resolve logistical challenges.
  • Review and analyze logistical reports to ensure support requirements are met.
  • Evaluate service contracts and recommend modifications as necessary.
  • Develop and enforce logistical policies and procedures.
  • Determine authorization levels to mitigate deficiencies in logistics operations.
  • Provide staff-level guidance on supply and maintenance processes.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Specialized Experience: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level, involving staff visits, policy review, and logistics management analysis.
  • Education (if applicable):
    • Master’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field; or
    • Two years of progressively advanced graduate education relevant to the position; or
    • A combination of education and experience that meets the qualification requirements.
  • Active membership in the U.S. Army Reserve is required before the start date.

Eligibility Categories

Applicants must meet one or more of the following employment authorities:

  • 30% or More Disabled Veterans
  • Current Department of Defense Employees (Army and non-Army)
  • Veterans Recruitment Appointment (VRA)
  • Military Spouses under E.O. 13473
  • Other applicable federal employment authorities are outlined in the job announcement.

Conditions of Employment

  • Subject to a suitability or fitness determination based on a completed background investigation.

  • This is a civilian position supporting Army Reserve logistics operations.
  • Relocation expenses may be authorized for new appointees under certain conditions.
  • Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be granted following agency determination and compliance with the Joint Travel Regulations.
