Thermal Engineer

We lead technology investigations, analyze industry capabilities and recommend potential vendor partner opportunities or make/buy solutions. What you'll achieve

Participate in the development of next-generation large-scale AI Infrastructure with focus on leading Cooling and thermal technologies - direct liquid cooling, cold plates, coolant distribution unit technology, heat exchanger, and rack integration technologies. Engage with high profile AI customers to optimize solutions for their applications. Work closely with the suppliers, CTO organization, and hardware engineering to enable the supply base to move at scale. Additionally, partner with Procurement and Operations to lead longer term supplier and category strategies.

You will:

Lead critical industry relationships with the supply base to develop advanced cooling technologies for AI solutions. Help develop business cases for future product strategies and position supply base for working in the Dell supply chain at scale. Specific activities include:
  • Supplier Engagement: Engage with the supplier base on future technologies, identifying and developing their technical capabilities
  • Supply Base Development: Build and mature the technical supply base to increase the number of potential sources
  • Time to Market Improvement: Improve speed to market and delivery by benchmarking customers to drive product standardization and eliminate custom designs
  • Next-Generation Readiness: Enhance readiness for next-generation (N+1, N+2) solution components
  • Cost and Supply Continuity: Build a product advantage in cost and/or continuity of supply for AI solutions
  • Procurement Collaboration: Engage with procurement on supplier development strategies

Essential Requirements
  • Technical Design Experience: Senior-level experience in technical design with thermals / liquid cooling technologies
  • Industry and Supply Base Knowledge: Deep industry and supplier knowledge, particularly in product development and engineering
  • Relationship Building: Strong relationships with the supply base and the ability to build long-term technical engagement strategies
  • Technologies: Expertise in liquid and air-cooling solutions to support data center deployments. Deep knowledge of CDUs, cold plates, rear door heat exchangers and overall coolant distribution systems for data centers
Desirable Requirements
  • 15+ years industry experience with bachelor's degree or equivalent skill
Compensation: Dell is committed to Fair and Equitable compensation practices. The Base Salary Range for this role is $192,000 - $258,000.
