Duties:

  • Install, repair, replace, and modify electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, panels, switches, breakers, and controls in and around installation buildings and structures.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues, identify defective equipment, and inspect faulty wiring.
  • Operate and maintain tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, soldering irons, cable pullers, hydraulic benders, and pipe-threading machines.
  • Follow established safety protocols and maintain a clean and secure work environment.

Requirements and Conditions of Employment:

  • Direct Deposit: Mandatory for all federal employees.
  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service: Males must be registered with the Selective Service System.
  • DoD Priority Placement Program: Position subject to this program.
  • Disclosure of Political Appointments: Required.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth; perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 40 pounds with assistance.
  • License: May require a valid driver’s license for travel to work sites.
  • Clearance: Must obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Drug Testing: Position is part of the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program and requires initial and periodic drug testing.
  • Work Environment: May involve hazardous materials, such as asbestos or waste, requiring protective gear. May work in extreme weather, noisy, or confined spaces.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to independently perform electrical installation and maintenance tasks.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, technical practices, and electrical theory.
  • Proficiency in using tools and equipment like test lamps, multimeters, circuit analyzers, and conduit benders.
  • Skill in troubleshooting complex electrical systems and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.

Working Conditions:

  • Work may occur indoors and outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather or noisy, dusty, and greasy environments.
  • May involve scaffolding, confined spaces, or heights exceeding 30 feet.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, lead, radiation, and hazardous chemicals is possible.

  • Leave accrual may be authorized.
  • This position may require shift work, emergency overtime, or handling hazardous materials.
