Duties:

  • Conduct safety investigations of minor and moderate accidents/incidents.
  • Assist in performing risk assessments and formulating corrective/preventative actions.
  • Analyze accident investigation reports to identify trends and potential hazards.
  • Deliver safety awareness training.
  • Promote safety programs through presentations, briefings, and displays.
  • Collaborate with brigade safety specialists to form recommendations for hazard abatement.
  • Maintain records of the Battalion Safety Program and track hazard abatement progress.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Active Membership in U.S. Army Reserve: You must be an active soldier in the U.S. Army Reserve to apply.
  • Security Clearance: You will need to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required, and you must also obtain a military driver’s license.
  • Education & Certification Requirements: Within 12 months of appointment, you must complete several OSHA and safety courses, including:
    • OSHA 510 (Construction Industry Safety)
    • OSHA 511 (General Industry Standards)
    • OSHA 3015 (Excavation, Trenching, and Soil Mechanics)
    • Additional required courses related to electrical standards, machinery, confined space entry, and risk management.
  • Professional Development: You will be required to complete 40 hours of Safety Professional Education annually.

Qualifications:

  • Specialized Experience: One year of experience in areas such as fire prevention, construction, engineering, transportation, or electrical safety, and/or safety training or promotion.
  • Education: A Master's degree or 2 years of graduate-level education in fields related to safety, health, engineering, or similar disciplines can be used to qualify.
  • Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of both experience and education can be used to meet the qualifications.
