We are excited to offer a key leadership role as a Lead Biotechnologist within our Portsmouth, NH facility. This role will provide oversight and expertise in Cell and Gene Therapy manufacturing operations, ensuring the successful execution of innovative projects while promoting safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Leadership: Uphold and communicate site safety objectives to ensure a controlled and safe working environment.
- Manufacturing Expertise: Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in core operational areas, including Cell Growth, Drug Product Filling, and related biotechnological processes.
- Team Leadership: Oversee and lead critical manufacturing activities such as harvest, vial filling, and visual inspection while mentoring and supporting team members.
- Customer Collaboration: Work closely with customer SMEs to implement and maintain processes that meet production goals and quality standards.
- Project Representation: Represent manufacturing in technical meetings, providing insights and ensuring alignment during campaign planning and execution.
- Training & Development: Design and deliver comprehensive training programs for staff on new processes, batch records, and quality systems related to Cell Therapy.
- Continuous Improvement: Partner with the Cell Therapy Manufacturing Project Specialist team to identify and implement process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Resource Management: Coordinate with the manufacturing team to secure necessary equipment and materials, ensuring seamless execution of processes.
- Flexibility & Travel: Support other sites within the Cell and Gene Therapy network as needed, including occasional travel.
Key Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; a Bachelor’s degree in a related field is strongly preferred.
- Experience: 5–10 years of proven experience in biotechnology or related manufacturing, with demonstrated leadership in complex processes.
- Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead teams and coordinate all aspects of biotechnological operations effectively.
- Collaboration: Outstanding communication and teamwork abilities to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in manufacturing processes, operational improvements, and quality systems within the biotech field.
- Adaptability: Willingness to travel and support operations at other Lonza facilities as necessary.
