Position Overview

The Administrative Support Specialist plays a critical role in coordinating administrative processes, managing financial and training-related requests, and ensuring smooth operational workflows. This position involves attention to detail, effective communication, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process financial assistance and Marine Corps tuition assistance program requests.
  • Handle and direct calls from internal and external personnel professionally.
  • Coordinate and provide administrative recommendations during Marine Corps District training conferences.
  • Maintain and update Marine Corps District poolee residual files.
  • Prepare applications, briefing materials, and databases for selection boards.
  • Issue orders for summer training programs.
  • Ensure timely processing of incoming and outgoing mail.

Conditions of Employment

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be eligible for federal employment.
  • Participation in the Direct Deposit pay program is mandatory.
  • Pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Compliance with time-in-grade requirements if applicable.
  • Obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including to remote or isolated sites.
  • Complete training and maintain a government credit card for travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience:
At least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in the federal service or similar roles in the private or public sector. Examples of qualifying experience include:

  • Providing clerical and administrative support, including document preparation and review.
  • Identifying and mitigating potential risks during background screening processes.
  • Processing applicant packages for commissioning programs.

Additional Information

  • Relocation: The 1MCD District Headquarters will relocate to Fort Hamilton in May/June 2025.
  • Telework: Eligible for situational telework.
  • Incentives: Recruitment, relocation, or student loan repayment incentives may be authorized.
  • Employment of Annuitants: Follows Department of Defense policy.
