Job Description:

SAIC is seeking a highly experienced Space Systems Chief Systems Engineer to support the Space Systems Command (SSC) Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power (SSC/SZ) portfolio. This critical role involves driving technical requirements, overseeing system integration, and collaborating across teams to develop and deploy advanced space systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Oversight:

    • Lead technical requirements development and systems engineering efforts.
    • Oversee development contractors in the design, production, integration, and testing of space systems.
    • Manage and negotiate interface control documents with external stakeholders.
  • Systems Integration and Management:

    • Supervise payload integration and interface control management.
    • Perform system integration of complex space systems, including ground segment integration and operational deployment.
    • Develop and refine communications concepts of operation.
  • Architecting and Analysis:

    • Conduct systems engineering tasks such as system requirements definition, interface definition, and design.
    • Perform interface management, data architecture development, lifecycle cost estimation, and decision analysis.
    • Execute performance analysis and oversee requirements verification and validation.
  • Risk Management and Collaboration:

    • Assess program risks and provide actionable recommendations to the chief engineer and program manager.
    • Collaborate independently with Government program office representatives, FFRDC, SETA, and contractor personnel.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Educational Background:

    • Bachelor of Science degree with 18+ years of experience, or
    • Master's degree with 16+ years of experience.
    • An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Security Clearance:

    • Active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for TS/SCI.
    • Willingness to consent to a polygraph examination.
  • Technical Expertise:

    • Extensive experience in space systems development, integration, and/or operations for the DoD or other agencies (e.g., NRO, NSA, NASA).
    • Proven leadership in systems engineering teams focused on integrating complex space and/or ground systems.

Target Salary Range:

$200,001 - $240,000 (based on experience and qualifications).

    SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be adhered to when work is performed at a customer site.
