Job Description:

SAIC is seeking a highly experienced Senior Principal Space Systems Engineer to support the Space Systems Command Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power (SSC/SZ) portfolio. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge space system engineering projects in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Systems Engineering Efforts:
    • Develop technical requirements, perform systems engineering, and oversee contractors for the development, design, production, integration, and testing of space systems.
  • Payload Integration Management:
    • Manage payload integration and interface control processes.
  • System Integration:
    • Integrate complex space systems, ground segment components, and ensure operational deployment readiness.
  • Interface Management:
    • Negotiate and manage interface control documents with external stakeholders.
  • Systems Architecture and Engineering:
    • Conduct activities such as system requirements definition, interface definition, data architecture development, performance analysis, lifecycle cost analysis, decision analysis, and refinement of operational concepts.
  • Verification and Validation:
    • Oversee the verification and validation of requirements.
  • Risk Assessment and Reporting:
    • Assess program risks and provide actionable recommendations to the Chief Engineer and Program Manager.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work independently with Government program office representatives, Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDC), SETA contractors, and other personnel.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent.
    • An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Security Clearance:
    • Active Top Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain a TS/SCI.
    • Willingness to undergo a polygraph examination.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proven experience in technical requirements development, systems engineering, and oversight of contractors for the design, production, integration, and testing of space systems.
    • Strong background in requirements verification and validation.

Target Salary Range:

$120,001 - $160,000 (based on experience and qualifications).

    SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when working at a customer site.
