Job Description:

SAIC is seeking an experienced Senior Ground Segment Systems Engineer to support the U.S. Space Force (USSF) in the development, deployment, and sustainment of a National Security Space system. This role involves working within the Space Systems Command Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power (SSC/SZ) system program office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Systems Engineering Support:

    • Perform systems architecting and engineering activities, including:
      • Defining system requirements.
      • Interface management.
      • Data architecture development.
      • Verification, validation, and system integration.
      • Performance analysis and lifecycle cost estimation.
    • Conduct physical configuration assessments and decision analysis.
  • Ground Segment Management:

    • Develop, assess, and manage ground segment technical and interface requirements.
    • Manage interface negotiations with external stakeholders and oversee interface verification.
  • Software Development Oversight:

    • Oversee and manage software product backlogs to meet baseline and emerging requirements.
    • Provide recommendations for development prioritization, solution augmentation, and implementation improvements.
  • Systems Integration:

    • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total system solutions while addressing technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Documentation and Strategy Support:

    • Develop key systems engineering artifacts, including CONOPs, requirements definitions (features, themes, epics), system testing plans, and algorithm document reviews.
    • Support the development and refinement of acquisition strategies, identifying program execution issues and providing actionable recommendations.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Educational Background:

    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a relevant discipline, with 14+ years of related experience.
    • (4 additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree).
  • Security Clearance:

    • Active Top Secret clearance with eligibility to access Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Programs.
    • Willingness to consent to a polygraph examination.
  • Technical Expertise:

    • Strong experience with technical program management, systems engineering, and government acquisitions of integrated Space and Ground Systems in the Space Control mission area.
    • Proficiency in software systems engineering, design, and architecture development.
    • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

Target Salary Range:

$200,001 - $240,000 (based on experience and qualifications).
