Job Description

SAIC is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support the USTRANSCOM Managed Information Technology Services (MITS) contract. The position involves providing technical and program management support for the modernization and operations of USTRANSCOM’s infrastructure, systems, and applications. The successful candidate will work independently on mission-critical projects, ensuring the security and efficiency of network infrastructure while overseeing less senior staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Installation & Maintenance: Install and maintain networks within a DoD environment, ensuring compliance with security requirements.
  • Routing Protocols & VPNs: Provide technical expertise on routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), IPv6, VPN solutions across global WAN backbones and distributed datacenter platforms.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation to support network operations and configurations.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with IT, security, and management teams to support network security, design, and operations.
  • Problem Solving: Manage high-priority tasks, troubleshoot network issues, and resolve complex problems in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Training & Support: Communicate network concepts and solutions to staff at all levels, ensuring clear understanding and effective collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
    • BA/BS and 9 years of experience OR 13+ years of experience in network engineering or a related field in lieu of a degree.
  • Clearance:
    • DoD Secret Clearance required.
  • Certifications:
    • IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CECCNA-Security, CySA+, GSEC, CND, SSCP).
    • Computing Environment (CE) certification for Network support/defense (e.g., Cisco, Splunk, McAfee).
  • Skills & Experience:
    • Extensive experience in network installation and maintenance within a DoD environment.
    • Strong expertise in common routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), IPv6, and VPN technologies.
    • Proficiency with MS Office tools (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel).
    • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent communication skills to convey complex IT, networking, and security concepts to a wide range of personnel.

Target Salary Range:

$80,001 - $120,000 (depending on experience and other factors).

Covid Policy:

SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters, but customer site-specific vaccination requirements must be followed when working at customer locations.
