Job Overview

SAIC is seeking a Systems Engineer/Architect with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience in Defense and National Security Space systems. The successful candidate will join the Horizon 2 program, supporting the Space Security Defense Program. This role involves providing systems engineering and architecture expertise in support of capabilities that protect the Nation's most critical space assets. The candidate will work closely with the US Space Force Commands, mission partners, and higher headquarters to develop and manage architectures, requirements, and analyses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Systems Engineering & Architecture:

    • Lead efforts in architecting and engineering systems for national security space systems, with a focus on full lifecycle processes.
    • Develop and update architectural roadmaps and evolve systems architecture based on stakeholder inputs and formal requirements.
    • Apply MBSE techniques to solve complex problems, including using SysML, and modeling tools such as Rhapsody, Cameo/MagicDraw, and SparxEA.
  • Modeling & Simulation:

    • Support the creation and management of enterprise and system models, including impact assessments of environmental changes.
    • Perform trade studies, optimization studies, performance assessments, and operations analysis like mission analysis and CONOPS development.
  • Collaboration & Communication:

    • Interface regularly with US Space Force, mission partner agencies, and higher headquarters to provide architectural solutions, generate and document requirements, structures, behaviors, and parametric analysis.
    • Present and communicate findings, concepts, architectures, and designs to stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with 9+ years of experience (4 years of additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • Experience in systems engineering and architecting, including understanding Department of Defense (DoD) modeling schemes and documentation types.
  • Proficiency in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes and modeling tools such as Rhapsody, Cameo/Magic Draw, and SparxEA.
  • Familiarity with analysis and simulation tools like MATLAB, AGI/STK, and Python.
  • Knowledge of the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) toolset.
  • Must have an in-scope security background investigation (T5 or SSBI), with eligibility for SCI access and consent for a Polygraph examination.

Desired:

  • Advanced degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field.
  • Professional certifications such as INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) or OMG Certified System Modeling Professional (OSCMP).
  • Understanding of DODI 5000.02 and JCIDS processes.
  • Experience with the Intelligence Community and National Security Space or Space Control mission areas.

Compensation

The target salary range for this position is between $120,001 - $160,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
