Systems Administrator

SAIC is seeking a Systems Administrator to support workstation remediation as part of the IT Service Management effort for USTRANSCOM at Scott Air Force Base (AFB) in Illinois, located approximately 23 miles from St. Louis, MO. This role is part of the USTC Managed Information Technology Services (MITS) contract, which provides strategic, technical, and program management guidance to support the operations and modernization of USTRANSCOM's infrastructure, systems, and applications. The successful candidate will support the Command, Control, Communications & Cyber Systems Directorate (TCJ6).

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems (Windows), application software (Apache Java), and system management tools.
• Proactively ensure systems availability, reliability, and performance.
• Perform system vulnerability remediation and reporting.
• Collaborate with vendors, IT personnel, and other stakeholders to resolve issues or meet new requirements.
• Administer Windows-based systems, including user/group management, security permissions, group policies, and resource monitoring.
• Conduct patch management activities, upgrading software and maintaining security standards.
• Develop and document troubleshooting and maintenance procedures.
• Coordinate and implement a routine server maintenance plan.
• Maintain up-to-date, accurate documentation of the enterprise server infrastructure and track inventory and locations of systems.
• Provide on-call on-site support, ensuring systems are available 24/7, both during normal business hours and after hours when required for planned or emergency events.

Qualifications:

Required:

• BA/BS or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in system administration.
• DoD Secret clearance or higher.
• Must hold at least one IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CECCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP).
• Must possess a Computing Environment (CE) certification for network support/defense (e.g., Splunk, Cisco, McAfee) or Operating Systems (e.g., Microsoft, Linux).
• Experience with Windows Server 2012/2016 in production environments.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and problem ownership.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Availability for on-call work on a recurring basis.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Working knowledge of authentication functions (LDAP, Kerberos, Active Directory).

Desired:

• MA/MS degree.
• 10+ years of experience in system administration.
• ITIL V4 Foundations certification.
• IAM Level II certifications (e.g., CAP, CASP+ CE, CISM, CISSP, GSLC).

Target Salary Range:

• $80,001 - $120,000, based on experience and other factors.
