SAIC's Horizon program is seeking Acquisition Support Specialists to support the U.S. Space Force's mission, particularly the Space Systems Command's Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power and Battle Management, Command, Control, and Communications weapon system portfolios. This program is aimed at providing subject matter expertise to the Government in the acquisition and management of defense weapon systems.

Program Overview:

The Horizon program supports U.S. Government weapon system program offices by offering systems acquisition and program management support for various capability development programs. These programs are vital for defending the nation’s most valuable space assets. Horizon team members play a key role in advising and assisting the Government throughout the full lifecycle of the systems acquisition process, with a focus on rapid fielding to meet warfighter needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise Program/Project Managers on acquisition strategies, schedules, contracting, budgeting, and execution.
  • Prepare status reports, coordinate and execute staff and technical meetings, and develop acquisition plans and schedules.
  • Draft and coordinate acquisition planning documents tailored from DoDI 5000.02, the Acquisition Framework, and related DoD, Air Force, and local unit policies, particularly in rapid prototyping.
  • Provide technical and programmatic assessments during contractor design and milestone reviews to evaluate progress, risks, and ability to meet mission requirements.
  • Support program element coordination, staffing, and funding commitments. Advise the government on funding obligations, draft funding documents, and assist with monthly financial reports.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in business management or a related discipline.
  • 14+ years of experience in government weapon systems acquisitions and program management, or contract management within the Department of Defense.
  • In-depth knowledge of:
    • Department of Defense Major Capability Acquisition System process.
    • Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) process.
    • Planning, Programming, Budget, and Execution (PPBE) process.
  • In-scope security background investigation (T5 or SSBI), adjudicated for SCI eligibility and enrolled in the Continuous Evaluation program (if applicable).
  • Willingness to be nominated for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), Special Access Programs, and consent to a Polygraph examination.

Desired:

  • Master’s degree in Business Management, Technical Management, or Engineering.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., PMI PMP).
  • Experience in National Security Space or the Space Control mission area.

Target Salary Range:

  • $120,001 - $160,000, based on experience and other factors.

Additional Information:

  • Ongoing application process with no specific deadline.
  • SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when performing work at a customer site.
