Duties:

  • Lead the development, evaluation, and presentation of professional findings, advice, and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Oversee assessments of joint operational capabilities, including processes and tools, and create comprehensive requirement documents outlining findings, issues, capability needs, and gaps.
  • Plan and conduct detailed reviews of complex technical communication issues and vulnerabilities across all layers of Cyberspace Operations: Physical, Logical, and Persona.
  • Utilize professional methodologies to research current interoperability and technology, identifying opportunities for improvement and potential vulnerabilities.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with Federal agencies, industry, and the private sector by participating in relevant workgroups, governance bodies, and academic forums.

Conditions of Employment:

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • This role may require access to classified information, requiring a favorable suitability review and security clearance.
  • A drug test is required.
  • Must complete Foundational Qualifications within 9 months and Residential Qualifications within 12 months per DoD 8140 policy.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements for Engineering Series (GG-854 and GG-855):

  • A degree in professional engineering, with a curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), or equivalent coursework in engineering science or physics.
  • Alternatively, a combination of education and experience demonstrating proficiency in engineering principles and practices.
  • Professional registration, written test, academic courses, or a related curriculum may be used to validate qualifications.

Basic Requirements for Computer Science Series (GG-1550):

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or a degree with at least 30 semester hours in mathematics, statistics, and computer science, including courses in differential and integral calculus.
  • All academic credentials must come from accredited institutions.

Qualifying Experience for GG-14:

  • One year of experience at the next lower grade level, or equivalent, in applying engineering or computer science standards to solve complex cybersecurity issues and recommend improvements.

Additional Information:

  • This position is in the Excepted Service, and appointment does not convey eligibility for competitive service conversion.
  • Current Federal employees will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
  • A three-year trial period may apply if a trial or probationary period has not been previously completed.
  • Telework availability is based on mission needs.
  • Drug testing required for designated positions.
