Duties:

  • Design and Analysis: Execute multiple designs (up to 10 at a time) using advanced architectural software like AutoCAD.
  • Site Investigations: Conduct field trips to project sites to gather data and refine project scope based on existing conditions and discussions with stakeholders.
  • Issue Investigation: Evaluate architectural issues in existing facilities and generate reports with recommendations for remediation.
  • Project Design Meetings: Lead design conferences, charrettes, and Functional Analysis Concept Development (FACD) sessions to develop project requirements and concept designs.
  • Risk Identification: Identify areas of risk in design and construction, developing strategies or alternatives for mitigation.
  • Quality Assurance: Review the work of Architect/Engineer (A/E) firms to ensure the quality and accuracy of drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, and studies.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Citizenship and Eligibility: U.S. citizenship is required, and you must be suitable for federal employment.
  • Security Clearance: You will need to obtain and maintain a security clearance prior to entering the position.
  • Certification Requirement: You must be certified as a Career Field Engineering and Technical Management (Foundational) within 36 months of appointment.
  • Travel Requirements: The position may require travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations, including remote or isolated sites, and travel on military and commercial aircraft.
  • Government Credit Card: You will need to complete training and maintain a government credit card for travel-related purchases.
  • Ethics Orientation: You must complete an ethics orientation within three months of your appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.

Qualifications:

To qualify, your resume must demonstrate specialized experience that includes:

  1. Design Experience: Creating design drawings and specifications for new or renovated facilities using architectural software like AutoCAD.
  2. On-Site Data Collection: Participating in on-site evaluations to gather data and develop project scope.
  3. Coordination: Coordinating architectural design with other engineering disciplines to ensure project efficiency.
  4. Issue Evaluation: Investigating architectural issues in existing facilities and recommending corrective actions.

Basic Educational Requirements:

  • Degree in Architecture: A bachelor’s degree in architecture or a related field is required, with at least 30 semester hours in architectural design, and coursework in structural technology, materials, construction methods, and environmental control systems.
  • Work Experience Substitution: If you don’t meet the degree requirement, you may substitute experience in architectural work, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of architectural principles and practices.
