Position Overview

The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for evaluating contractor compliance with contract requirements, overseeing manufacturing and testing processes, and ensuring corrective actions are taken when deficiencies are identified. The role involves preparing reports, conducting inspections, and traveling to various sites as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule evaluations to ensure personnel compliance and program adequacy in line with contractual requirements.
  • Preplan Product Verification Inspections (PVI) and In-Process Evaluations (IE) for contractor manufacturing, fabrication, installation, and testing processes.
  • Initiate Corrective Action Requests (CARs) for deficiencies and ensure follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Prepare written reports, memoranda, and oral presentations detailing quality and technical evaluations.
  • Plan and conduct evaluations based on construction/testing schedules to ensure actions occur at appropriate times.

Conditions of Employment

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Must successfully pass E-Verify employment verification.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
  • Personal protective equipment (e.g., helmets, gloves, respirators, safety shoes) is required for the duration of work shifts.
  • Must obtain and maintain security clearance as required.
  • Travel, including to remote or isolated sites, may be required.

Qualifications

For GS-07 Level

  • Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05 in federal service, involving:
  • Assisting with or performing quality assurance evaluations to ensure contractor compliance.
  • Education Substitution:
  • One year of graduate education in fields such as quality assurance, statistics, engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Superior Academic Achievement in a bachelor’s degree program combination of experience and graduate education.

For GS-05 Level

  • Specialized Experience: Three years of progressively responsible experience, with one year equivalent to GS-04, demonstrating:
  • Problem analysis and resolution.
  • Work planning and organization.
  • Effective oral and written communication.

Education Substitution:

  • A bachelor’s degree in fields like quality assurance, engineering, or related disciplines.
  • A combination of education and experience.

  • This position is part of the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
  • Hiring authority: Direct hire for certain personnel under DoD regulations.
