Job Overview:

SAIC is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to provide technical leadership and support for USTRANSCOM's IT Service Management efforts, located at Scott AFB in Illinois. The successful candidate will support the USTC Command, Control, Communications & Cyber Systems Directorate (TCJ6) by implementing cloud solutions and modernizing infrastructure, systems, and applications. The engineer will be responsible for cloud architecture design, migration, integration, security, and optimization to meet mission-critical needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Solution Architecture: Lead the development and implementation of commercial cloud solution architectures focusing on security, scalability, and resiliency.
  • Migration and Integration: Plan, design, and manage the migration and integration of complex cloud environments, ensuring smooth operation and optimized performance.
  • Security Implementation: Define, administer, and implement cloud security processes, ensuring compliance with DoD Cloud Computing policy.
  • Cloud Service Offerings (CSO): Ensure that cloud service offerings comply with DoD standards, providing detailed recommendations for hardware/software selection, cloud service provider choices, and migration techniques.
  • Cloud and Virtualization Systems Testing: Develop and conduct testing for cloud and virtualization systems, maintaining technical expertise in industry standards.
  • Evaluation of New Technologies: Assess and report on new cloud and virtualization technologies to improve cloud-based services and capabilities.
  • Systems Engineering Activities: Support system engineering tasks including requirements definition, system architecture, design, integration, and performance analysis.
  • Strategic Planning and Decision Making: Collaborate with senior managers to establish strategic plans, objectives, and administrative decisions for cloud services projects.
  • Customer and Management Liaison: Serve as a technical advisor to management and customers on cloud and virtualization solutions, providing advanced technical insights and recommendations.
  • After-Hours Support: Be available for after-hours and weekend support during planned or emergency events.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • BA/BS in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology).
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with proven expertise in cloud architecture, cloud solutions design, and cloud service implementations.
  • Clearance:
    • Active DoD Secret Clearance required.
  • Certifications:
    • IAT Level III certifications (e.g., CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH).
    • Cloud or Virtualization CE certification (Azure, AWS, Oracle, IBM, etc.), with Azure preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Azure Commercial Cloud Services experience.
    • Proven track record as a cloud architect, designing and deploying cloud solutions.
    • Expertise in Active Directory design and maintenance.
    • In-depth knowledge of AWS, Networking, VPNs, IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS services.
    • Experience with Azure Active Directory and Azure AD Connect.
    • Familiarity with AWS security capabilities (WAF, GuardDuty, IAM, etc.), as well as tools like Git, Jenkins, Groovy, and YML.
    • Experience with ITSM tools, VDI solutions, and Zero Trust architectures.
    • Experience in configuration and change management in a government setting.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in Government Cloud Service Management: Strong background in working with government customers, particularly in cloud migration and cloud optimization projects.
  • AWS Workspaces or experience deploying VDI solutions to AWS Cloud.

Target Salary Range:

$120,001 - $160,000 (Depending on experience and qualifications)
