Position Overview

As an Information Technology Specialist (Network Services), you will manage and enhance IT systems, ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of computer and telecommunications networks. This role involves developing innovative methods to address complex challenges and providing critical guidance across various geographical locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute complex IT assignments, creating innovative methods and procedures.
  • Provide expert advice on complex IT issues and interpret IT policies and guidelines.
  • Conduct network traffic analysis, audits, and studies to improve operations.
  • Oversee IT activities at multiple locations, ensuring technical standards are met.
  • Develop procurement specifications and technical requirements.
  • Create and manage schedules for resource installation, testing, and maintenance.
  • Support contracting officers with technical advice and documentation.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must pass a suitability determination via background investigation.
  • Obtain and maintain IA Technical Level II certifications within six months of appointment.
  • Must have or be able to secure a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Travel requirement: Up to 25% (Temporary Duty or business travel).
  • May require shift work as part of the job duties.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience

Applicants must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the federal service, including:

  • Applying systems design, development, testing, and maintenance concepts to IT networks.
  • Evaluating network operations through design and monitoring techniques.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues affecting network performance.
  • Ensuring network device configurations meet security compliance standards.

The role requires demonstrated expertise in the following areas:

  1. Attention to Detail: Producing thorough and accurate work with minimal supervision.
  2. Customer Service: Addressing and resolving user issues effectively while maintaining professional relationships.
