Overview:

Amazon's Dedicated Cloud Information Security team is seeking a highly skilled Security Engineer with expertise in assessing and testing computer hardware. In this hands-on position, you will participate in security reviews of hardware components and infrastructures, and enhance cloud architectures that deploy environments supporting security programs. You will work closely with customers to ensure security outcomes and deliver results that have a long-lasting impact. This is a technical role that requires a deep understanding of both hardware and software systems.

To be considered for this position, candidates must be U.S. Citizens and possess an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

Responsibilities:

  • Security Engineering Support: Provide solutions and security engineering support during customer-facing engagements, proactively addressing customer requirements and reducing risks.
  • Collaboration with Security Engineers: Work with a team of engineers to assess and reduce security risks while delivering outcomes for customers.
  • Automated Cloud Infrastructure: Help enhance the security of cloud infrastructure through automated processes, setting high standards for security.
  • Architecting Security Solutions: Translate technical requirements for hardware and software systems into detailed architecture and design specifications.
  • Recommendations for Hardware Solutions: Address hardware challenges related to cryptography, access control, and threat mitigation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of experience in computer hardware and networking.
    • 1+ year of programming experience with a modern programming language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, Rust.
    • 1+ year of non-internship professional software development experience.
    • Experience designing, building, and deploying scalable software and hardware solutions.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Security Clearance: Current TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical Expertise:
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Experience setting up hardware environments for security evaluations, including configuring data center hardware, power systems, and network equipment.
    • Secure application development experience, including static and dynamic application security testing, vulnerability scanning, and mitigation.
    • Understanding of software development practices, including feature branch management, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and software observability.
    • Experience with AWS services.
    • Familiarity with hardware interfaces such as PCIe, JTAG, UART, I2C, SPI.
    • Familiarity with software system interfaces such as gRPC, REST.
    • Knowledge of High Availability, Disaster Recovery, and Failover strategies.
