Position Overview

The AWS Ground Station team is revolutionizing satellite connectivity in the cloud by offering a fully managed Ground Station as a Service (GSaaS). This service allows customers to control satellites, ingest and process data, and integrate with AWS services—all without the need for infrastructure commitments. The AWS Ground Station solution is globally distributed, enabling users to access AWS services with minimal latency from downlinking satellite data. By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to solve complex problems and drive innovation in satellite communications for cloud computing.

This role requires a U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product, engineering, hardware, software, and infrastructure teams to manage the scope, requirements, and delivery of AWS Ground Station services across the globe.
  • Represent the service architecture and technical needs of AWS Ground Station within Amazon, including handling spectrum licensing.
  • Assess and mitigate risks, address technical challenges, and make tough trade-off decisions while managing cost and schedule to meet deployment goals.
  • Communicate program status to senior leadership and influence decisions for scalable and secure solutions.
  • Drive customer-centric innovation, transforming satellite operations and improving how satellite operators connect with spacecraft.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and use your technical background to ensure high-quality and timely delivery of solutions.
  • Own end-to-end systems and technologies, contributing to real-world global-scale problems and impacting millions of customers worldwide.

Qualifications

Basic:

  • 5+ years of experience in technical product or program management.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk management.
  • 5+ years working directly with engineering teams.
  • Proven experience managing cross-functional programs and building processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.

Preferred:

  • Experience managing highly technical programs involving infrastructure and complex systems.
  • Strong writing skills for communicating technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of satellite and ground system communication systems and architectures.
  • Experience in defining KPIs/SLA's for multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership.
  • Current active U.S. Government Security Clearance (Top Secret or above).

Compensation and Benefits

  • The base pay for this role ranges from $133,900/year in the lowest geographic market to $231,400/year in the highest market. Compensation also includes equity, sign-on bonuses, and other benefits.
