Scientific Analyst Job Category: Engineering Time Type: Full time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: Secret Employee Type: Regular Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 10% Type of Travel: Local * * * The Opportunity: As a Scientific Analyst you will support the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense (JPEO- CBRND) JPEO-CBRND Headquarters (HQ). The JPEO-CBRND manages our nation's investments in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear defense equipment, and medical countermeasures battlespaces worldwide. This position requires a Secret clearance. Responsibilities: As a Scientific Analyst you will: * Provide Senior level strategic analytical support to evaluate process, governance, and program oversight and inform recommendations for various DOD initiatives, including the Wearables Pilot Program.
* Remain informed of the latest scientific innovations associated with CBRND wearable sensor and information technology developments that may impact the portfolio.
* Participate in working groups, meetings, and support development and review of necessary documents to support Senior Leader decisions.
* Provide scientific input in order to assist in the development of an overall CBRND sensor program acquisition strategy.
* Support and analyze development of sensor, analytical, and communications technologies to identify how those would address operational needs.
* Provide scientific knowledge in new/novel technologies and/or techniques to meet program objectives.
* Provide expertise associated with requirements development the establishment of new-programs within the DoD acquisition structure. * Assist to identify and assess risks of new technologies and ongoing projects.
* Translate scientific and technical principles into "laymen's" terms for a nonscientific audience.
* Lead and assist during critical reviews and analyses of white papers, proposals, and technical reports submitted.
* Interface with the stakeholder community and senior leaders to ensure effective coordination.
* Travel, as needed, to support the program. Qualifications: Required: * DoD Secret security clearance
* Master's degree in Engineering, Science, Business Management, Systems Management, or a related discipline, as well as fifteen (15) years of general experience and ten (10) years of relevant experience OR possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Business Management, Systems Management, or a related discipline, as well as twenty (20) years of general experience and fifteen (15) years of relevant experience.
* Knowledge in of multiple engineering and scientific fields and have previous experience applying this knowledge to CB Defense sensor and bio-surveillance efforts, as well as complex technical problems, with minimal supervision.
* Ability to work on a multi-disciplined team in a DoD acquisition environment.
* Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and rapidly redirect efforts based on changing requirements.
